Mort - Terry Pratchett

This personal project for my favourite Terry Pratchett book was a perfect excuse to create one of my favourite types of image – a ‘skull in the landscape’ illusion.

Pareidolia is the tendency humans have to see patterns and especially faces where there is none, and a skull illusion fits perfectly with the theme of the book.

After sketching the idea, I set up a simple 3D scene to arrange the objects and really push the perspective. I took the render into Procreate for the illustration and custom title lettering.
